Forget pleasantries and home-baked cookies — this granny is all sass and shots of booze.
Tammy Fertig, a 63-year-old Californian grandma of three, has gone viral on TikTok for her shockingly savage comments — such as encouraging her viewers to go bowling, so they can “learn how to stay in [their] own mother-f–king lane.”
“In the beginning, my videos were more innocent … And then I realized when I would post something that maybe was a little bit more edgy, I’d get a lot more views,” the self-proclaimed “Snarky Nana” told The Post.
Since launching her account in 2021, she has amassed 2.6 million followers and 42.8 million likes.
And instead of ads for herbal tea and knitting yarn, she’s paid to promote such brands as Kraken Rum and Womanizer, a sex-toy maker. She even sells her own risqué merchandise.
“It’s so surreal and I can’t say I expected it, but I wanted it,” she said about her success.
Fertig makes sure to use her “cute little voice” while serving up scandalous quotes and quips – usually while holding a coffee mug with a cheeky quote on it, like “Let’s keep the dumb-f–kery to a minimum today.”
She’s full of advice on romance: “Ladies, if you think your man is cheating, take him to that bitch’s front door and see if his Wi-Fi connects automatically,” she posted Friday.
“Mic drop Nana,” one user responded.
“You go girl!” another gushed.
The retired accountant and mom of four finds respite in her online persona.
“I always was so nice to absolutely everybody. And then, over the years, you get a little bitter [because of] people doing things to you,” Fertig said.
“Snarky Nana could not exist if she wasn’t deep down in here somewhere.”
Although, “I’m not as much of a bitch or snarky in person,” she admitted.
Other members of the Fertig family agreed.
“For my kids and even growing up myself, when she would say ‘f–k,’ we would be like ‘Oh my God, did Nana just say f–k?’ her daughter, Amy, said.
“I think it’s fabulous.”
Fertig’s husband, David, said that the unruly granny people see online is opposite to the “wonderful” person his wife is in real life.
However, “occasionally, when I misbehave myself, I do get a little Snarky Nana,” he said with a laugh.
After Amy, 37, introduced her mom to the app in 2020, Fertig quickly recognized it as an opportunity to make some cash.
Users who make original content can be eligible to earn money from the TikToker’s Creator Fund and get paid by outside companies to promote their products.
The old-timer has made approximately $20,000 between what TikTok pays her, promo deals and selling her own merch.
But Fertig is still shooting for the stars.
“I would love to be discovered. I would love to do some commercials; I’d love to be on a soap opera,” she said.
