You can order your “event” cake — but you may not want to eat it, too.
A woman was left speechless after her $300 chocolate dream cake was delivered — only to discover the resulting nightmare looked nothing like the pictures she was sold on.
Libby Carlson posted the tall, sprinkle-covered mess to her TikTok, comparing it to the four-tier chocolate cake topped with chocolate ganache and shaved chocolate that she claims she ordered.
“I paid $300 for this,” Carlson, from the US, furiously wrote on the “cake-gate” video. “The lady dropped it off, what do I actually do?”
The cake in question looked homemade instead of the professional, elegant-looking chocolate cake pictured, Carlson claimed.
Although the botched baked good vaguely looks like it could be around the same height as the cake she ordered, instead of being covered in chocolate ribbons her cake had frosting had been sloppily and sporadically applied with some dull sprinkles covering it.
The Post have reached out the Carlson for comment.
The clip, which was posted to Carlson’s 35,500 TikTok on Thursday, has now been viewed over 2.7 million times with thousand commenting incredulously commenting on the clip.
“When you say dropped it off, did she literally drop it?😳 also how is that the same as the one in the photo??? HOW” one user wrote in disbelief.
“No way! You shouldn’t have accepted it” another agreed.
However, some dubious viewers weren’t convinced: “There is no way. This has gotta be a joke,” a doubtful viewer replied in the comments section. “Like a fun take on cake-gate?”
“I’m sorry, I literally do not believe you,” one dubious person wrote.
“Staged but funny,” agreed another.
Other TikTokers called it #cakefail 2.0 — comparing it to a heated argument between a baker and customer that was posted to social media in April.
The frosted feud eventually made it’s way to TikTok with both parties posting videos that went viral with millions of views.
That customer — Ashleigh Freeman — purchased a custom cake from Kylie Allen, the owner of West Virginia bakery Kylie Kakes Dessert Bar & Cafe, who promised to create her “signature” rainbow layered cake for the birthday occasion.
However, Freeman declared it unprofessional and not up to the standard of a professional baker, while Allen said the interaction was “one of the worst client experiences” she’s ever had.
