Sheet happens.

An interior designer says she was shocked to learn that she’d been making her bed the wrong way her entire life after watching a tutorial from a fellow stylist.

The unnamed decorator shared the story on the official TikTok account for design firm, Havenly.

In the clip — which has clocked up 115,000 views — the professional, who has worked in her field for three years, admitted she previously gave “no thought” as to how she made her bed.

“I would just stack my [sleeping] pillows and then stack nicer [decorative] pillows,” she explained. “That was what I thought I was supposed to do.”

The designer accompanied her explanation with a photo showing the incorrect way to make the bed, with the sleeping pillows propped up vertically and the decorative pillows plopped in front.

That method makes things look chaotic, with almost half of the bed covered in all sorts of different-sized pillows.

“Turns out you’re supposed to lay down your sleeping pillows [horizontally], stacked one on top of the other ” the designer declared, flipping to a photo of the correct way to make the bed.

That image came from a tutorial given by another designer.

It shows that the sleeping pillows are concealed by decorative pillows propped up in front of them.

The simple hack ultimately makes all of the pillows take up less space on the bed, allowing it to look both cleaner and calmer. Simultaneously, the stacking of the sleeping pillows adds height and makes the top of the bed look fuller and more inviting.

In order to complete the bed-making process the proper way, the designer says people should fold down their duvet cover just below the decorative pillows.

She claimed that trick made the bed look fluffier and more inviting, “like something [you’d see] in a store.”

The designer isn’t the first to go viral with advice on bedding.

Earlier this month, a study conducted by bedding retailer Pizuna sparked debate about how often it was appropriate to wash bed sheets.

The study found that 45% of single men only wash their bedding once every four months. Single women fared a bit better by washing their bedding around every two weeks and couples washed their bedding around once a month.
