Want to spruce up your Christmas tree this year?
One TikToker revealed a little-known technique to hang ornaments to give your tannenbaum a little extra sparkle.
Instead of hanging large bulbs one by one on individual branches, the account @sunshinethedoggo — usually, a pet profile for a Floridian chow chow and shar-pei mix — taught followers how to make bulb clusters.
The content creator strung gold, white and silver spheres on a pipe cleaner — although they said any kind of flexible wire will do — and fastened it to a branch, creating a twinkling bunch of bulbs on the tree.
“Ornament clusters are the way to go,” the TikToker captioned the clip posted just last week.
Viewers called the holiday hack “brilliant” and “awesome” in the comments.
“I have a leftover craft bag of pipe cleaners I was trying to figure out how to utilize them,” one user praised. “Martha Stewart who?? Thank you for this!”
Before anyone laments how “early” it is to be decorating, experts say ringing in the holidays as early as Nov. 1 can make people feel extra cheery.
This year, Gen Z is taking it one step further with a “more is more” approach to Christmas decor, opting for maximalism by way of multicolored lights, kitschy ornaments and mismatched wrapping paper under the tree.
The decorations, they say, is nostalgic — unlike the “beige Christmas” aesthetic that has overtaken Millennials’ living rooms in recent years.
Interior designers have even taken note of the desire to maximize the season’s joy, saying they’ve noticed Christmas trees spawning in more than one room in people’s homes.
“We’re seeing a number of people putting up multiple trees in various rooms around their home to feel the Christmas spirit throughout the whole house,” Jen Derry, an interior designer and chief merchandizing officer at e-commerce company Balsam Brands, told Kidspot.
“We’re also seeing themed trees, with meticulously curated ornaments serving as a focal point for other decorations.”
