Paul Pierce said he drove himself to the hospital after a 45-pound weightlifting plate crushed his fingers in a bloody scene during a workout at the gym on Friday.
The Basketball Fall of Famer recalled the incident during Monday’s installment of “Undisputed,” and explained that he saw the bone on his right ring finger after the weight severed his finger, which required surgery.
“I was crushing it in the weight room and a plate fell on my hand,” Pierce said while showing his bandaged finger in a cast. “I was doing a plank with a 45 [pound plate], you know, nobody can do that really but true gorillas in the weight room.
“It slide off, smashed by hand, I had to have surgery. But I’m here bright and early Monday morning, ready… Finger smashed open, bone came out, I drove myself to the hospital, got the surgery, went home and drunk a cup of coffee. That’s it… and Ima go to the weight room again and get right back in action.”
Pierce revealed the injury on Friday when he shared photos of his mangled fingers covered in blood on social media — including a snap of him lying in a hospital bed.
“I’m good by the way just broke a couple fingers gonna have surgery on one,” Pierce captioned one of the photos.
One of his fingertips was facing the wrong way in another photo.
Taking to his X account, Pierce shared that “surgery went well” Friday.
Pierce’s explanation on “Undisputed” came after he posted a video of himself stomping on Jalen Brunson’s jersey after the Knicks’ season-ending loss to the Pacers in Game 7 of their second-round playoff series.
The Celtics legend made headlines earlier in the week when he said “n—a” while live on “Undisputed.”
Pierce joined FS1 as a basketball analyst on “Undisputed,” which is hosted by Skip Bayless, in March 2024.
The NBA champ was fired from ESPN as an analyst in April 2021 after he shared a stripper-clad video on Instagram.
