Chili’s and Applebee’s turn up the heat in nasty battle: ‘You can’t compete where you can’t compare’

There’s a beef between these chain restaurants.

Applebee’s and Chili’s are battling it out on social media over which restaurant’s value meal is better.

Last month, Applebee’s launched their new $9.99 “Really Big Meal Deal,” which gives customers the choice of either a Big Cluckin’ or Big Classic Bacon Cheeseburger as an entrée alongside classic fries and a fountain beverage.

On the other hand, Chili’s is home to the $10.99 “3 for Me” deal, which includes the customer’s choice of an appetizer, entrée and beverage.

The fight started when Applebee’s posted on X implying that its deal is better because it’s cheaper.

“$9.99 The Really Big Meal Deal >>>>> that other $10.99 deal,” the restaurant chain wrote Dec. 6 on X.

Even though Applebee’s didn’t explicitly name Chili’s, it took the hint and hit them with a reply, saying, “@ us next time…”

Chili’s added, “Don’t forget, our 3 for $10.99 comes with bottomless drinks, UNLIMITED chips and salsa, and a Big Smasher with fries. Y’all could literally never.”

A majority of users on the platform seemed to side with Chili’s, responding in support to the restaurant.

“Only $1 more to avoid Applebees is priceless,” one person wrote.

“Cheaper don’t always mean better,” another said.

Chili’s even replied to some fan responses, further igniting the flame.

One user said, “They could never do what the Chili’s Triple Dipper has done for me,” to which that chain responded, “Never ever!”

“You can’t compete where you can’t compare,” another response from Chili’s read.

However, when one person chimed in that “the girls are fighting,” the eatery insisted they were “just chatting.”

In a statement, Chili’s Chief Marketing Officer George Felix told CNN that it’s “no secret that we like to have a little fun on our social channels, and we are extremely passionate about making sure our guests are truly getting the best value in casual dining.”

Applebee’s and Chili’s are just two of the many restaurant chains that have launched low-priced meal deals to keep customers coming amid inflation.
