Hollywood hotspot with secret entrance closed after disturbing vermin infestation

A popular ’70s retro bar known for its secret entrance through a refrigerator in Hollywood was temporarily shut down due to vermin infestation on Thursday.

Good Times at Davey Wayne’s in 1611 N El Centro Avenue was shut down by the Los Angeles County Public Health Department on nine different health violations.

Out of the nine violations, the main driver for the closure was a 11-point major violation for insects, rodents, and other animals present according to Health Department records.

The other eight were two minor and six general requirement (GRP) violations. Some were related to plumbing issues and inadequate handwashing facilities. It appeared the establishment was back up and running Monday, as it advertised an event for Monday night on the bar’s Instagram page.

The restaurant was founded in 2014 and features a secret refrigerator entrance and a backyard patio with an Airstream trailer bar. Known for its cocktails and live music, Good Times at Davey Wayne’s built a massive local following, drawing over 26,000 followers on Instagram.

Recent health-code related closures also include restaurants located in Grand Central Market in Downtown Los Angeles. Olio Wood Fired Pizzeria, Shiku, and McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams were all temporarily shut down last month.

All three restaurants eventually reopened after clearing violations.
