Adele revealed that her Las Vegas residency has given her an unpleasant gift: jock itch.
The 35-year-old singer shared at her “Weekends With Adele” Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace Colosseum that her doctor told her she had the fungal infection after sweating in her Spanx every night while performing under hot lights.
“It is a bit crude but I never knew it existed,” she shared.
“Me and my team were talking about it earlier. Obviously when I do my shows I wear Spanx to keep it all in and make it all fit me,” Adele added during the show. “And I sweat a lot and it doesn’t go anywhere. So basically I just sit in my own sweat. And my doctor gave me Jock Itch [cream].”
Jock itch — also called tinea cruris — is a fungal infection on the skin that occurs in warm, moist areas, often in the groin, buttocks and and inner thigh areas, according to Mayo Clinic.
The condition is common among athletes and people who sweat a lot.
“So it looks like I am an athlete so I have to squirt it on myself,” Adele admitted. “I don’t know why the f–k I just told you that.”
In line with her athlete comment, the “Hello” singer went on to make a joke about the Denver Nuggets’s star player Nikola Jokić.
“Sounds like I am a big Nuggets fan there doesn’t it? Jock Itch that is what it is called right?” Adele quipped.
This isn’t the first time Adele has spoken about her health issues during her residency shows.
In February, Adele — who has dealt with back pain for almost two decades — revealed to the audience that she had been performing with a disintegrated disc in her spine.
“Is anyone else kind of my age starting getting bad knees? I have got really bad sciatica in my left leg and my L5 disc is not f–king there anymore. It’s worn away,” Adele said, according to the Evening Standard.
According to Mayo Clinic, sciatica is a sharp, shooting pain that runs from the lower back down the side or the back of the leg, and it’s typically caused by a compressed vertebrae nerve.
During her New Year’s Eve show, the “Someone Like You” singer shared that she had to “waddle” due to her chronic back pain.
“I’ve just got to get over to the other side of the stage,” Adele shared in a video obtained exclusively by the Daily Star. “I have to waddle these days as I have really bad sciatica.”
The first leg of the British singer’s residency ended in March, and she spoke about the nerves she had after returning from a three-month hiatus.
“We had a very long break and I am gassed to be back. I was bored out of my brains. Somehow I missed you,” Adele shared. It is a lovely change. I genuinely love doing these shows and it is the highlight of my week. I was desperate to get back. It is a whole new meaning.”
The 34-show second leg of “Weekends with Adele” began June 16 and will run through November 4.
