While grocery prices are rising, Aldi is giving its customers a sense of relief.
Aldi, already known for its low prices, announced that it will lower the cost of more than 250 products.
The store’s price reductions will ultimately result in an estimated $100 million in savings for Americans through Labor Day.
“Aldi is always looking for ways to help customers save money, but with more experts warning of persistent inflation, the time was right to deliver even greater discounts on our already low prices for the second year in a row,” Dave Rinaldo, President at Aldi US, said in a statement.
Aldi’s cost reductions will be applied to seasonal items such as picnic necessities, BBQ essentials, travel-ready snacks and better-for-you foods, per the press release.
The price drop will nearly double savings from last year, building on Aldi’s May 2023 announcement that it would be reducing prices on products to potentially save shoppers more than $60 million.
The grocery store is notoriously big on saving, using business practices that help cut unnecessary costs, such as its quarter-cart system, displaying products in the boxes they arrive in and letting customers bag their own groceries.
Additionally, Aldi plans to add 800 stores across the US over the next five years.
“We don’t want food prices to hold people back from getting together with friends and family or spending time outdoors this season,” Rinaldo added.
