Couple embarks on anniversary trip — wife shocked to find this when she walked into rental home

This guy is more than just a mama’s boy.

Dealing with annoying in-laws is part of what you sign up for when you get married — but it doesn’t help when your spouse doesn’t know how to implement boundaries with their parents.

A frustrated wife took to the r/AmIOverreacting forum on Reddit to vent about her husband overstepping by unexpectedly inviting his mother on an anniversary trip the couple was taking — which has since been taken down.

“We rarely get time alone because we both work full-time and have two little kids,” the original poster wrote. “I was beyond excited: spa, wine tasting, nice dinners.”

All those happy thoughts came to a screeching halt when the wife walked in to find her mother-in-law at the rental house.

Her hubby defended his decision by thinking he was doing a nice thing and “getting his mom out.”

“Apparently, he thought it would be a ‘nice surprise’ since she ‘never gets out much’ and could watch the kids while we ‘went out,’ ” the 32-year-old wrote.

The nail in the coffin was that this mother-in-law was the third wheel the entire trip: “…she came with us to the dinners, on the vineyard tour, and even slept in the room next to us.”

This annoyed wife aired out her grievances about the entire situation — yet her husband thought she was being a brat.

He is “saying I’m being ungrateful and dramatic since his mom ‘just wanted to spend time with us,’” she wrote.

This isn’t the first time that a monster-in-law overstepped.

Supposedly, on the eve of a newlywed’s honeymoon, her mother-in-law rifled through her suitcase and judged her for the skimpy bikinis she was packing for the trip.

“She came across a fairly revealing bikini I had bought for this occasion,” the bride wrote. “She asked me if I was really planning on taking this along.” 

“Please don’t go through our private stuff — it’s rude and ill-mannered,” she said in response to her nosiness.

The meddling mother-in-law didn’t back down. The OP wrote that her MIL said it “doesn’t have to mean that I wear revealing clothes on public beaches (we’re Muslim and she’s a bit more conservative, I guess).” 

“Our relationship and our honeymoon is our own and not for her to comment on,” the bride defended.
