Newton County, Ga. – The Newton County School System confirmed Wednesday that a student in the district has tested positive for monkeypox.
The school district informed parents that a student at Mansfield Elementary School tested positive. Another student studying at Flint Hill Elementary School is also being tested for monkeypox.

The district wrote in a statement, “School district officials notified parents at both schools via school messenger calls, and received separate communications to parents of students considered close contacts according to CDC norms.” Will be.”
Newton County Schools said they are thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting classrooms and other areas in both schools.
The district cannot release information about individual students.
