Hero FedEx driver kills rattlesnake on woman’s porch: ‘I hope you didn’t have a pet’

He’s a Fed-Exterminator.

A Nebraska FedEx courier named Matt Govier went above and beyond the call of package delivery duty after heroically killing a rattlesnake that was lurking on a woman’s front porch.

Doorbell camera footage of the courageous deed is blowing up online as viewers praise the deliveryman for his bravery.

“I nominate Matt Govier for Fed Ex employee of the year!” wrote the woman, Christie Jones, in a Facebook post describing the parcel transporter’s serpent slaying.

The homeowner had reportedly been alerted to the deed after receiving a text message that read: “I hope you didn’t have a pet rattlesnake at your front door because I killed him. Sorry about the blood.”

According to Jam Press, Govier had been dropping off a package at Jones’ house in Sumner when he spotted an “anaconda-sized” prairie rattlesnake — a venomous species that can grow to five feet long — lurking near her front porch steps.

Like a modern-day version of Hercules vanquishing the hydra, the courier dispatched the critter so it wouldn’t bite his customers when they arrived home.

Accompanying footage, captured via Jones’ ring doorbell camera, shows a 36-inch-long rattlesnake slithering about on the front porch steps. Shortly thereafter, Govier arrives at the house hefting a massive box.

The deliveryman gets all the way to the door before spotting the serpent, whereupon he exclaims “Oh f–k.” Then, thinking quickly, the courier-cum-snake slayer grabs a shovel and kills the beast, before using a rake to dispose of the corpse.

Needless to say, Jones felt indebted to the delivery hero over his good deed, exclaiming on Facebook: “Anyone who really knows me knows how incredibly fearful I am of any kind of snake.”

The Nebraskan felt particularly relieved given that her daughter “had walked out this front door about 20 minutes prior to the arrival of said snake.”

The Facebook commentariat was quick to praise Govier with one fan writing, “Yes he should get employee of the year!!!”

“He’s very brave. I might have fainted or peed my pants or both at the same time,” gushed another.

A third fawned, “Matt deserves a raise! Haha!”

“HOLY CRAP!!!! Thank goodness the kids are back in school so they weren’t around and glad the FedEx guy got him!!!” a fourth commenter exclaimed.

This isn’t the first time a deliveryman has come to the rescue during someone’s time of need.

In April, a Pennsylvania pizza man served a slice of karma after literally tripping up a suspected carjacker while dropping off a pie.
