Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner finalize divorce, ending bitter year-long battle

Close the door on Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s divorce drama.

The exes finalized their divorce on Tuesday, according to TMZ, a little over one year after Jonas, 35, filed a petition to end his marriage to the “Game of Thrones” star, 28.

A judge officially signed off on the divorce after the former couple reached a mutually agreed-upon settlement, the terms of which, however, are confidential.

The divorce brings an end to the pair’s four-year marriage. Jonas and Turner started dating in 2016 and wed in a spontaneous Las Vegas ceremony on May 1, 2019. They welcomed their first daughter, Willa, in 2020, followed by Delphine in 2022. 

The divorce was acrimonious from the start centering largely on a bitter custody feud over their two daughters: Willa, 4, and Delphine, 2. 

Shortly after posting a joint statement on social media in September 2023 announcing they had “mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” Turned filed a lawsuit against Jonas, accusing him of “child abduction.”

Turner alleged Jonas withheld their children’s passports to prevent them from traveling to Sophie’s native England.

Jonas’ team, however, quickly pushed back against Turner’s narrative.

“Joe is seeking shared parenting with the kids so that they are raised by both their mother and father, and is of course also okay with the kids being raised both in the U.S. and the UK. The children were born in the U.S. and have spent the vast majority of their lives in the U.S. They are American citizens,” a rep for Jonas told The Post shortly after Turner filed her lawsuit.

“This is an unfortunate legal disagreement about a marriage that is sadly ending. When language like ‘abduction’ is used, it is misleading at best, and a serious abuse of the legal system at worst. The children were not abducted. After being in Joe’s care for the past three months at the agreement of both parties, the children are currently with their mother. Sophie is making this claim only to move the divorce proceedings to the UK and to remove the children from the U.S. permanently.”

The pair subsequently entered into mediation to try and sort out a property and custody settlement in October 2023. The decision proved productive as the couple announced a judge had paused their New York child custody case after estranged spouses reached a mutual agreement that their kids would split their time between Jonas’ home in the US and Turner’s in the UK.

“We look forward to being great co-parents,” they said in a joint statement.
