It’s peanut butter and jelly time.
M&M’s will add the first permanent flavor to the famed chocolate candy lineup since 2022, its maker finally announced after weeks of speculation — and the choice of PBJ has some candy lovers feeling less than sweet.
The flavor is “designed to evoke the comforting experience of a classic PB&J sandwich,” said Gabrielle Wesley, chief marketing officer of manufacturer Mars Wrigley.
“Peanut butter M&M’s have long been a favorite among our fans, and we’re thrilled to build on that excitement with this new twist,” Wesley explained.
The new flavor is said to take a “beloved, cross-generational staple and transform it into a delightful snack that’s perfect for sharing,” the company said.
“Absolutely not,” said one critic in the most-upvoted comment on a Reddit discussion of the subject.
“PBJ only works as the sandwich. anything flavored like PBJ is usually gross,” they moaned.
Another fan noted the “Artificial Flavors” disclaimer clearly marked on the new package.
“F–k that,” they said dismissively.
Some fans challenged the idea of calling the flavor “new,” referring to the existence of a limited “Strawberried Peanut Butter” flavor, back in 2009.
The two flavors in one sweet treat was released as a promotional product for “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” The Post reported earlier.
Meanwhile, many seemed more amenable to the idea of the new candy, which will hit store shelves in December, the Daily Mail reported.
“I’m so excited for the PB&J trend to hit candy!” popular food blogger Snackolator commented on the maker’s social media.
“Finally! I’ve dreamt of this flavor for a real long time. Dreams do come true!” another fan gushed.
The flavor will be available nationwide.
