Some people think I’m too young for my fiancé – they’re shocked when they hear the truth

Don’t judge a book by its cover.

A woman from Canada revealed that people always think she’s too young for her fiancé – but it turns out she’s actually 12 years older than him.

Nathalie Gagnon, 54, met her now-fiancé David Poirier, 42, on a dating app in 2008, and they immediately formed a deep connection with each other, despite the age gap.

Gagnon, who gained a social media following in 2016 after she stopped drinking booze and started intermittent fasting, says that people always think she’s much younger than Poirier.

“I always get told I look so much younger [than him] and most people think I’m in my 30s,” Gagnon told NeedToKnow.co.uk.

She continued, “The age gap doesn’t affect us, it’s just like any other relationship.”

The couple first met when Poirier, who works as a pastry chef, was 27, and Nathalie was 39.

At the time, Poirier was living in Montreal, and Gagnon was in Quebec, so their relationship was long-distance.

In order to make it work, they called each other on the phone every day and decided to make things official – but the people in their lives weren’t happy with it at first.

“I got rid of all the toxic people who didn’t like it, family related or not, as toxicity brings you down and I want to live a happy life,” Gagnon explained.

She continued, “[I ask myself]: Do I deserve happiness or do I care about what others think? I always choose the first answer.”

Nearly two years later, in 2010, Poirier made the move to be with Gagnon in Quebec.

Now, her family is extremely accepting of the relationship, including her daughter, who is 32.

“It’s no one else’s business and it never will be,” she said.

Gagnon posts videos on TikTok, where she recently went viral for posing in a skimpy bikini.

She also has revealed the “saucy” messages she receives from men online, including fetish pictures.

Viewers often compare her looks to those of a teenager’s.

At first, Gagnon’s soon-to-be-husband wasn’t too pleased with this, but now they’re stronger than ever, as he understands that it’s just her line of work.

“He didn’t like people trying to flirt with me, but I gave him access to my cell phone and I never hide anything from him,” she said.

However, she’s still flooded with comments from people who think that she’s still too young for Poirier – including one that read, “20 bucks says it’s not true.”

One of her TikTok videos, which reached almost 10,000 views, was a clip of the 54-year-old wearing a black bikini as her fiancé comes up behind her, trying to take off her clothes.

She even revealed that she’s been labeled as the “hot cougar” by some of her online followers, explaining that the “majority” of them are younger than her.

She maintained that her fiancé is proud of her, and knows how hard she works.

“He knows that even though I love naughty messages from my fans, he is the one,” Gagnon said.

But she’s staying strong, and not letting the haters affect her.

“Being a hot grandma doesn’t change anything of who I am inside, as I’m a nice kind woman who loves to empower other women,” Gagnon said.
