Trevor Noah and Dua (yes it’s her real name) Lipa are “Levitating” in the first flush of a romantic entanglemnt.
And folks, we love to see it.
Lipa, 27, is riding high on the success of her Elton John collaboration “Cold Heart” and it seems Noah, 38, is doing his damndest to warm hers.
The pair first met in 2018 when Lipa performed at the UEFA Champions League Final in Kiev. Side note and soccer adjacent, the singer refused to appear or perform at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, citing the countries heinous human rights record. On behalf of all that is just and decent, Dua, we thank you.
“The Daily Show” host and the British born songstress publicly vibed when Noah was a guest on Lipa’s “At Your Service” podcast this fall. The episode is a full of banter, bald admiration, and some might argue top notes of a love connection. The pair incited dating rumors in September when they were photographed having dinner and a mid street make out in on the streets of Manhattan post podcast.
When it comes to Noah, Lipa is allegedly “smitten,” a curious and cringeworthy word which translates directly to “struck hard, afflicted, visited with disaster.” It sounds painful but as the poets and the plebeians agree, so too is love. In terms of astrology is this burgeoning romance the stuff of dreams or disaster? Read on to learn more.
Water and Fire
Trevor Noah, born February 20, 1984, is a Pisces sun by the skin of his scales while Dua Lipa, born August 22, 1995 is a mane shaking, dance floor commanding Leo. What these two signs share is a real love of love and a belief in its capacity to transform and prevail. For all the grief Leos get for being superficial they crave depth, communion and humor more than most, and my friends, depth, communion, humor and watercolor painting are specialities of the Pisces ilk.
For his part, a Pisces like Noah will appreciate the sweet strength of this lion and her magnanimous disposition. Pisces is ruled by dream daddy planet Neptune and as such, natives delight in anything that is born from dreams; images, music, people that look like Dua Lipa. You could characterize this pairing as that of the hot court jester and the curious queen.
Trouble arises betwixt the lion and the fish when it comes to matters of privacy. Pisces people prefer to fly, neigh, swim, under the radar and this may signal to the Leo, more of the roar it from the rooftops type, that they are not a point of pride or a deity to be worshipped.
We can see this difference in approach to the personal/public in Lipa and Noah’s handling of past relationships. Noah continues to be evasive (classic Pisces) in interviews about his personal life while Lipa has historically been more publicly demonstrative of her relationships on social media and through the contents of her song book.
Lyrical evidence in songs like “Scared To Be Lonely,” and “Fever” suggest Lipa is no stranger to heartbreak or disappointment, while her 2017 bop “IDGAF” points directly to her being betrayed by a partner. Side note, anyone with a Cancer moon like Lipa always gives a f**k, like all of the f***s and most of the feels. Which leads us to the moon aspect of this union.
Moon dance off
Noah and Lipa have their moons, indicator of need and attachment style in the cardinal signs of Libra and Cancer, respectively. In astrology, squares are seen as challenging aspects that predict discord but also mark the potential for growth. Square moons can mean two people REALLY rub each other the wrong way but they probably need to rub up on each other for a good long while to be sure. Into it.
In the case of Noah and Lipa, this moon square may have created an immediate spark of intrigue but in the long run they could struggle to really see or meet the needs of each other. This is especially true when you consider that Cancer moons like Lipa have A LOT of expectations when it comes to emotional availability and Libra moons like Noah are a touch effusive, preferring to make light of heavy matters and keep emotional baggage confined to a single carry on.
Fact: only a Leo would release a self-referential song called “Hotter Than Hell” and only a Cancer moon would write one called “Break My Heart.” Lipa’s Leo sun and Cancer moon equates to a deeply romantic individual with a wild imagination and some serious delusions around what a relationship could and should look like. It’s almost always impossible for reality to ever approach the elaborate fantasy this combination is inclined to design. A tall order for a potential suitor but one a dreamy AF Pisces is prime to attempt.
Both Lipa’s sun and moon are in domicile, meaning both signs align with the planet that rules them, Leo being the domain of the sun and Cancer the hearth of the moon. The combination of these placements indicates a kind of dissonance between what Lipa projects and what she feels. She may feel compelled to perform the character she thinks others expect of her while simultaneously resenting both the character and the expectation.
Pisces sun, Libra Moon folk like Noah are more easy breezy, peace and love to all types. They tend to be liked by everyone but known by no one due to their habit of deflecting personal questions and a tendency to repress their own needs and feelings in the interest of keeping the peace. This move is at once defensive and manipulative, and a Cancer moon like Lipa will smell the tactic like seaweed roasting in sunshine.
Opposites in love
Add to the star pot that Lipa and Noah’s Venus placements, which indicate love and attraction are opposite one another. Venus in Leo folk like Lipa demand veneration, heavy petting, tongue baths and regular ritual sacrifices made to the altar of their selfhood. Meanwhile, Venus in Aquarius peeps like Noah are skeptical of cults and the practice of putting all their proverbial eggs in one basket, preferring to keep a healthy balance of curiosity and detachment in their love affairs. Sounds like the makings of a complex relationship or at the very least an absolute banger of a breakup record.
Are these two meant to last? The moon square aspect in this particular pairing suggests that Lipa and Noah will have to conquer much and make many a compromise for this relationship to work in the long run. The beautiful thing about creatives coming together and or falling apart is that we, the ever hungry audience, are privileged to receive the art that comes from it. With this in mind, we wish these two the best of luck in love and all that it inspires.
