No use crying over ruined makeup.

Beauty influencer Ayaat Mishaal revealed a beauty hack to prevent teary eyes from ruining your flawless makeup.

“Putting Vaseline in the corners of my eyes before leaving the house to stop my eyes from watering is the best thing TikTok has ever taught me,” she divulged in the clip with over 6 million views.

In the 9-second clip posted on Jan.17, Mishaal applies Vaseline around her eyes and tear ducts with a pointed Q-tip to avoid her makeup from smudging due to the extra wet eyes.

The frigid air of winter creates a dry environment for the eye, activating their tear ducts to produce more water, which can quickly ruin a full face of makeup.

“Our eyes become more dry in the winter so using a lubricating eye drop to help lubricate the eye, can be helpful and might prevent watery eyes in the first place,” Dr. Alexa Hecht, Toronto-based optometrist, told The Post.

Mishaal discovered this hack “through the TikTok comments of a previous video [posted on Dec. 31, 2023] sharing my experience with teary eyes,” Mishaal told The Post.

“I put Vaseline in the corner of my eye, and it works like magic!!!!,” wrote the tip giver.

Mishaal is grateful for the beauty advice she now relies on to keep her eye makeup in place, especially in cold temperatures below 20 degrees°F.

“Needed this. My eyes ONLY water when I attempt to do makeup,” wrote one viewer in the comments.

“I wish I knew this yesterday. I went out in -3 weather, and it messed up my eyeliner,” added another.

Some viewers noted that too much Vaseline can create other problems due to its comedogenic effects.

“I would be cautious about using Vaseline under the eyes and in the corner of the eyes, especially if you are prone to milia or styes,” Dr. Hecht added. “The skin underneath and around your eyes is extremely thin, and by applying a thick ointment like Vaseline on this area, you can increase the risk of the formation of milia.”

The Post reached out to Vaseline for comment.

Dr. Jennifer Tsai, a board-certified Optometrist, medical advisor, and founder of “LINE OF SIGHT” in New York City unveiled more dangers using Vaseline near your eyes can do.

“It’s essential to avoid using it too close to the eyes because it can cause irritation and blurry vision,” Dr. Tsai told The Post.

“Because Vaseline is an occlusive moisturizer, it may cause clogging of the meibomian glands on the eyelid waterline if used too closely.”
