Tyson dino chicken nuggets recalled after reports of metal pieces

Unfortunately, you may have to toss those dino nuggets sitting in your freezer.

Tyson Foods has recalled nearly 30,000 pounds of dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets after multiple reports of consumers finding pieces of metal in the product.

“A limited number of consumers have reported they found small, pliable metal pieces in the product, and out of an abundance of caution, the company is recalling this product,” a release from Tyson said.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Saturday that approximately 29,819 pounds of Tyson’s Fully Cooked Fun Nuggets Breaded Shaped Chicken Patties have been recalled as the nuggets “may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically metal pieces.”

According to a release from the USDA, the specific patties were produced on Sept. 5 and shipped to distributors in Alabama, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin in 29-oz packages.

The recalled product has the establishment number “P-7211” on the back on the package, a Best If Used By date of Sept. 4, 2024, and lot codes 2483BRV0207, 2483BRV0208, 2483BRV0209 and 2483BRV0210.

So far, there has only been one oral injury reported to the FSIS in association with consuming the nuggets, however, “FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers.”

“Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”
