Roses are red. Broccoli is green. This is the healthiest Valentine’s Day gift you’ve ever seen.
Tenderstem partnered with British chocolatier Chococo to release their Valentine’s broccoli-infused chocolates called Tender-Choc.
“Show your tender side this Valentine’s Day with these limited edition fresh dark chocolates filled with a gentle Tenderstem broccoli,” the packaging label read.
The company used 72% Ecuadorian dark chocolates, filled it with green ganache made of broccoli, and mixed with fresh Dorset cream and almond notes to create the crucifer dessert.
Each box contains nine chocolate-covered broccoli topped with a green chocolate circle over the healthy delicacy.
NewsFoodUK, a food enthusiast account on Instagram, shared a post about the unique Valentine’s gift, captioning it, “These sound a little out there but are actually quite delicious.”
The social media page’s recommendation had many foodies uneasy about the strange pairing.
“No. no. no. I love broccoli. I love chocolate. But this is a clear no no no,” declared a social media user.
“This was made for me,” exclaimed a chocolate lover. “Definitely want to try the Tenderchoc.”
“The Mrs will love this one,” added a husband.
“Perfect for a love-hate relationship,” wrote a jokester.
Tenderstem only has 30 boxes available for customers to purchase, but they are offering a free raffle, which closes on Feb.12, for broccoli lovers who can’t see themselves without the veggie on Valentine’s.
“We wanted to offer something truly special and unexpected for lovebirds, to allow Brits to reflect their unique and special feelings with a unique and special gift,” said Chococo brand designer David Samuels.
Last year, a couple incorporated the Tenderstem greens in their Valentine’s Day with a broccoli bouquet, which grabbed the attention of many people online.
Eddie Baird surprised his partner India Atkinson when he ‘broccoli-bombed’ their apartment in Belfast, Ireland.
In a TikTok video, she revealed the evening centered around broccoli, Atkinson’s favorite vegetable, from creating a “broquet,” broccoli pieces formed into a heart on their bed and brassica romantically lined up in the bathroom with lit candles.
“I [can’t] can’t believe what he’s done for Valentine’s Day… ‘inc-redible’,” Atkinson captioned the clip with over 266,000 views.
