I found a cigarette butt in my kid’s McDonald’s Happy Meal — I’m lucky he didn’t eat it

This is pretty disgusting — no ifs, ands or cigarette butts. 

Gemma Kirk-Bonner, 35, was reportedly appalled to find a cigarette butt in her child’s Happy Meal from a McDonald’s location in Barrow-in-Furness, England, on Oct. 18 — and now she wants an apology.

After returning home with the kid-friendly nosh, Kirk-Bonner was left “fuming” upon discovering the smoke-scented surprise — while feeding her 1-year-old son Caleb and her 3-year-old son Jackson, The Mail reported.

“Forget the toy…  now comes with cigarette end and ash for extra taste…..Phoned up to make a complaint but rudely spoken to then she put the phone down on me !!,” the miffed mom wrote in a Facebook post along with a photo of the cigs among the fries. 

The Post reached out to Kirk-Bonner for comment.

“I gave my three-year-old his without looking. Then I put my one-year-old in his high chair, and I was feeding him by hand. I was picking the [food] up for him,” she said, according to The Mail.

“That’s when I noticed the ash and the cigarette in the box. It was disgusting. I was absolutely fuming. If I’d given the box to my three-year-old, he would have tried to eat it. He wouldn’t have known it was different,” she added.

According to the comments section of the video, she has yet to receive an apology. 

She later said that the manager hung up on her. 

“It has put me off. It’s made me think twice about going to McDonald’s. I normally take my sons on the Friday, but I won’t be doing it this time, that’s for sure. I’m in the process of complaining to McDonald’s head office,” she lamented. 

The Post reached out to McDonald’s for comment. 

Franchisee Mark Blundell told The Mail: “Food safety is of the utmost importance to us, and we place great emphasis on quality control and providing the highest standard to our customers of our Barrow-in-Furness restaurant,”

“We would encourage the customer to contact customer services so that we can properly investigate and help them find a resolution,” the statement continued. 

This isn’t the first time someone has found a cigarette in their fast food order.

Last year, a Mississippi teen was allegedly left “traumatized” after discovering a half-smoked cigarette in her Burger King chicken fries while eating them.

In 2021, a Florida woman claims she found a cigarette wrapped up with her soft-shell taco from Taco Bell. 

Taura Helsel, of Pensacola, was horrified when she allegedly discovered the unwanted side in her chalupa meal from a Taco Bell restaurant in Escambia County.

Helsel said her infant daughter had already eaten some of the tacos she gave her before she made the startling discovery.
