This humble snack is making a comeback as Gen Z’s latest health food obsession

Cottage cheese is back and bitter than ever.

Gen Z’s new food obsession is an old classic: cottage cheese. The low-fat, low-calorie snack is having a moment on TikTok — and flying off shelves in grocery stores despite a spike in dairy prices.

Cottage cheese isn’t a typical favorite because of its lumpy texture and taste, but supermarkets have reported a surge in sales — and one influencer even dubbed it “the new avocado.”

Instead of making avocado toast, @cookingwithnoa used cottage cheese on her sourdough toast with chili oil and scrambled eggs.

Im obsessed with option 1 😍 Option 1. •Sourdough •Cottage cheese •1/2 -1 tsp crispy/ or normal chili oil •drizzle of honey •pinch of salt Option 2. •Sourdough •cottage cheese • scrambled eggs •salt & pepper , chilli flakes Method : Toast your sourdough on a pan with a little butter or Olive oil until golden. Spread over the cottage cheese Top with toppings of choice! I think the chilli oil is a fav 😍 for the yummiest scrambled eggs , I follow this method: Crack 2 eggs into a small bowl and whisk together until very well combined. Put a medium-sized nonstick pan over medium heat and add 1-2 tsp of butter. Swirl the butter around until melted completely, then reduce the heat to medium -low. Add the eggs. Use a spatula to stir the eggs around the pan. It may take a few minutes before the eggs start to form curds. Use the spatula to push and fold the eggs over on themselves, being sure to push the liquidy parts of the egg to make contact with the skillet. Stir frequently. Once the eggs are mainly set but still wet, remove the pan from the heat. Then continue to stir until they are done to your liking. Serve immediately. #cottagecheese #eggsontoast #healthylunch
