As everyone continues to cough and sniffle through the winter, this health hack might be the cure.
The hashtag #ImmunityCubes has 4.6 billion views on TikTok as as experts warn of the continued tripledemic — the surge of RSV, flu and COVID-19 cases.
Immunity cubes are made from nutritious ingredients that are blended together and frozen to be readily available for adding to hot water, tea or smoothies for an added boost of vitamins.
“Certain foods are rich in nutrients, and they can help support your immune system,” Dr. Natasha Bhuyan, of One Medical, told The Post.
Although the recipes vary slightly, immunity cubes typically contain orange, lemon, ginger, carrots, turmeric, raw honey, black pepper, coconut milk, coconut water and plain water.
“They are sweet, they are tart, they are creamy, and they are full of ingredients to help keep your immune system in tip-top shape, all winter long,” attorney and cookbook author Nicole K. Modic, known online as Kale Junkie, wrote on her blog.
“Not only are they delicious AND nutritious, but they are so simple and easy to throw together,” Modic added. “They’re the ultimate lazy girl recipe!”
With 71,800 views, Modic has one of the most viral TikTok videos promoting the health benefits and delicious taste of immunity cubes.
But why can they help build immunity, as Bhuyan contends?

- ½ lemon, chopped
- 1 carrot, chopped
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 to 3 pieces raw ginger
- ⅓ cup Manuka honey
- 1 orange, chopped
- ½ cup coconut milk (optional)
- 3 cups water or coconut water
Zesty lemons are packed with antioxidants, fiber and an excellent source of vitamin C, which can aid in boosting overall immunity.
Carrots are loaded with Vitamin A and beta-carotene along with other nutrients that have been found to provide a long list of benefits, including helping to balance blood sugar and boost brain health.
When paired together, turmeric and black pepper provide an added punch as the black pepper allows your body to better absorb the bright orange medicinal plant for the full anti-inflammatory effects.
Ginger helps to ease stress and indigestion, thanks to gingerol, a natural compound in fresh ginger.
Squeezing a bit of sweet and sticky honey into the blender not only adds to the taste but also adds an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial agent.
Widely known for being a great source of Vitamin C, oranges help strengthen our immune system to fight off any sicknesses.
Finishing off the concoction with coconut milk pours in antioxidant protection from disease and antimicrobials to infection, while coconut water adds a splash of flavor and even more Vitamin C.
However, Bhuyan emphasized that “like with anything we eat, we should be sure not to overdo it.”
Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing, in other words.
Overdosing on certain nutrients can throw your body off balance. For example, taking too much Vitamin C can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and other symptoms that the immunity cubes were intended to stave off.
The expert also added that they shouldn’t relied upon.
“Using these immunity cubes should also be done along with eating an overall healthy diet, getting plenty of sleep, staying active and managing stress,” Bhuyan said.
